STATEMENT/BIO
I am a new genres artist working through multiple mediums, from performance and sculpture to media, literary writings, and project-based channels. My work functions at once as critique and analysis of various institutional systems within my grasp, and derives from an interest in the potential findings and methodology of psychoanalysis through artistic practice. Social communication struggles, cognitive response mechanisms, power/control balance, emotional/physical exploitation, abjection, humor, horror, capitalization/mercantilism, and obsessive research/meditation are repeated themes throughout my work.
In my work I have developed the role of a director, a psychoanalyst, a performer, and a victim of exploitation. Depending on the needs and conceptual grounds for an artwork, the role may shift from artist to performer, or sometimes balance between both. Surprise, intrigue, intimacy/singular participation, confession, disclosure, vulnerability, and contempt are continued motifs, and have a direct relationship to time-- the anticipatory time before a performance, the duration of a piece, and the lasting impression/rebounding thought process after experiencing a work.
